With roots dating back to the early 1800’s, Carroll County is bordered on the north by the Mason-Dixon Line; the boundary that separated the North and the South during the American Civil War. During the war, Carroll County was heavily divided with supporters for both the North and South. Since that time, Carroll County has grown to become a part of the Maryland Metropolitan Area, which is the Nation’s 20^th largest market and home to over two million individuals.
